ITINERARY

DAY 1 ARRIVAL NEW CHITOSE AIRPORT

Assemble at Changi Airport for your flight to Hokkaido.

DAY 2 NEW CHITOSE AIRPORT / NOBORIBETSU / HOT SPRING HOTEL (L/D)

Hotel: Hotel Mahoroba, Sekisui-tei or similar Upon touchdown, head to Date idaimura in Noboribetsu, a historical theme park modeled after the Edo-Period. Activities there include traditional Japanese games, street performances and old theatre shows amongst others. Wandering the streets are Ninja as well as Oiran Courtesans, making the ancient ambience even more complete as you’retransported back in time. Jigokudani, or Hell Valley, is another highlight of Noboribetsu. Featuring huge craters and sulfuric springs, alongside the thin layer of fog that pervades the area, it is a landscape that truly embodies horror. Our next stop is theNoboribetsu Hot Springs, the most popular hot spring in Hokkaido that contains 11 kinds of springs within. It is also considered the most effective hot spring in Japan.

DAY 3 NOBORIBETSU / HAKODATE / HOT SPRING HOTEL (B/L/D)

Hotel: Yunokawa Takubokutei or similar

Visit Mt Showa, or Showa Shinzan, one of Japan’s youngest mountains that sprung up from a flat wheat field after an earthquake. It is so named because it appeared during the reign of Emperor Showa, and was thus titled the Showa New Mountain. Check out the Noboribetsu Bear park as well, where you can watch the adorable Ezo Bears make poses as you offer them snacks. As well, you may get up close via an enclosure known as a human cage, allowing you to watch even closer. Check out Osha-manabe where you can get a taste of Kanimeshi, Crab meat with rice, followed by a trip to the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse to catch a glimpse of Hakodate’s development over the years, as well as do some souvenir shopping. Next, climb to the summit of Mt Hakodate by cable car, to watch what is considered one of the most beautiful night views in the world.

DAY 4 HAKODATE / LAKE TOYA HOT SPRING (B/L/D)

Hotel: Toya Sun Palace/Toya Kohan-tei or similar

Visit Goryokaku, a star shaped fort designated as a special historical relic. It was designed as a fort to resist the imperialist threat. It has been converted into one of Japan’s most famous tourist spots, and with the thousands of cherry blossoms planted, one of it’s most beautiful as well. Then visit the Hakodate morning market, with it’s over 300 stalls selling all sorts of fresh produce and seafood. Head for Onuma Park, designated as a quasi-national park, and located only 20km north of Hakodate. It is well known for its picturesque-island dotted lakes, as well as its majestic dormant volcano, Mount Komagatake. Then head to Lake Toya, situated in the southwestern part of Hokkaido, and housed within the Shikotsu-Toya National Park. Lake Toya is a scenic ice-free lake, meaning that regardless of temperature, it never freezes over, maintaining its beauty throughout the seasons. Within the lake are four small islands known as Nakajima, and built atop the island is the Toyako Forest Museum, part of our sightseeing boat tour.

After breakfast, head to the New Chitose Airport, one of the most beautiful airports in Japan, with a huge assortment of shopping and dining experiences. Explore the airport at your leisure until it is time to board your flight home.
