DAY 3 WELLINGTON

This morning, get ready for a tour of the multi-award winning design studio and physical manufacturing facility, Weta Workshop. See how a film’s creative process unfolds and watch master designers and craftsmen at work as they create amazing movie effects and props. Then, check out authentic prop replicas and collectibles from well-loved movies like “The Lord of the Rings”, “Avatar” and “The Hobbit” at Weta Cave. Watch a video of the exclusive behind-the-scenes interview with the workshop’s co-founders such as Richard Taylor, Peter Jackson and Tania Rodger. Get your hands dirty with a DIY movie effects and design experience after the studio tour. Next, soak up some New Zealand culture at Museum of New Zealand
Te Papa Tongarewa, New Zealand’s national museum. Renowned for its bicultural partnerships between the indigenous and non-indigenous people, the museum’s collections focus on diversity and multidisciplinary collaboration. Continue to Zealandia, a groundbreaking and community-driven ecological restoration project. Not only does the sanctuary educate others on New Zealand’s native wildlife and natural history, it has also inspired similar conservation projects throughout the country through its conservation success. Thereafter, enjoy a 1-way historic cable car ride to Kelburn Lookout for stunning views of the surrounding attractions.

DAY 4 WELLINGTON – WAIRARAPA – NAPIER

(Breakfast/Western Dinner)
Start your day at a local winery in Wairarapa region for a wine-tasting session. Then, stop by Greytown, the oldest town in Wairarapa, with historic trees and quaint Victorian architecture along its main streets. Thereafter, proceed to The Silky Oak Chocolate Company to learn about the chocolate-making process and enjoy a taste of their selection of chocolates. The “Chocolate Thru’ The Ages” Museum takes you through 3,000 years of chocolate history and is the only comprehensive chocolate museum in the Southern Hemisphere.

DAY 5 NAPIER – TAUPO

Lake Taupo
Lake Taupo

(Breakfast/Western Dinner)
Embark on a city tour of Napier, one of the cities with the highest concentration of Art Deco buildings in the world. Then, head north towards New Zealand’s largest lake, Lake Taupo. Go on a cruise and take in the gorgeous views of the picturesque bays and magnificent snow-capped mountain peaks of UNESCO World Heritage listed Tongariro National Park as you learn about Maori mythology around the lake. Next, proceed to the thundering waters of Huka Falls, the most visited natural attraction in New Zealand where up to 220,000 litres of water plummets 11 metres below into a beautiful blue and green pool every second. You may wish to join a jetboating adventure, bungy jump, cliff hangar or skydiving experience at
your own expense.

DAY 6 TAUPO – ROTORUA

(Breakfast/Hangi Feast Dinner)
This morning, head to one of the most surreal places in the world, Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland. See how geothermal activity paints and sculpts the landscape with rainbow colours and unique geological features such as bubbling mud, huge volcanic craters and world-famous Champagne Pool and Lady Knox Geyser. After, go on a tour of Mamaku Blue and take the opportunity to sample and buy a range of blueberry products. To top off this evening’s experience, enjoy a traditionally cooked hangi feast dinner from earthen ovens and relish in a Maori concert with lively songs and performances. After dinner, join in the traditional Maori poi dance or haka.

DAY 7 ROTORUA

(Breakfast/Western Lunch)
Take a gondola ride to admire the surrounding panoramic views as you ascend to the top of Mt Ngongotaha. Next, experience an exhilarating ride on the Luge. The Luge is a fun-filled 2-kilometre-long gravity ride on a cart, which is suitable for all ages. Proceed to Agrodome Farm Show to see sheep dogs work their magic at herding 19 different breeds of sheep. Then, join the Agrodome Farm Tour where you get to take a tractor to hand-feed and take photos with many friendly animals, including romney sheep, cattle, deer, llamas, ostriches, pigs and alpacas.
